Nerves from the spinal cord pass between the vertebrae, and they in turn send thousands of branches to every part of our body. These are the nerves that carry impulses (messages) to the millions of cells throughout the body. In affect they are the lines of communication between the brain and the cells. Spinal health is what we will be discussing. Maintaining a healthy spine for a Chiropractor is the number one priority. First you must get to know your body.

4 Key Steps to a Healthy Back - How to Develop a Pain Free Neck, Back and Spine

I have found that 4 major things play an important part in the health of your spine, back and neck. These four major components are key to having a healthy back, and if you follow them you will notice a considerable difference in your overall back health.

You must have each one of these four things to have a healthy back and spine, they are:

1.) Flexibility
2.) Back Strength
3.) Daily Stretching
4.) Posture

Let’s go into each of these four main parts to a healthy back in more detail.

1.) Flexibility

The first thing on our list is flexibility and how flexible your back is. If you are finding that you are throwing your back out a lot, and are experiencing painful back problems, you must think about getting the spine into proper alignment first. When you do have any type of alignment you also will increase the flexibility of your back right along with the alignment, so keep that in mind. Using Exercise to Reduce Back Pain

Past research suggests that 80% of all Americans will have some of back pain during their lives. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons also supports this exact statistic with their studies.

Usually the remedy for lower back pain is to increase your core strength which increases your flexibility on any muscles that may be tight, which gives you better stabilization on your spine. Exercises to correct any imbalance of muscles are also used to treat lower back pain. The muscles that surround the spine provide stability and help to support the spinal column.

Every muscle between your hips and shoulder are considered your core muscles. Back pain can be caused by an imbalance of any of your core muscles. For example, if the back of your thighs are weaker than the front of your thighs, an uneven pull on the front of your spinal column will result.

You can integrate core strength exercises into your normal exercise routine. One way to strengthen your core muscles is to breath effectively, especially during exercise. Breathing deep will use your diaphragm muscles more. These muscles help support the spinal column and lengthen the spine.
