We all have heard the saying “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” This is no more applicable than when dealing with your health. We understand that by taking a proactive approach to health we may reduce injury, disease, and sickness. A popular example practiced by most is dental care. We brush, rinse, floss (yes, we need to floss) and have our periodic check-ups with the dentist. We understand that if we don’t care for our teeth, we will lose them, a simple concept indeed.

I have found that 4 major things play an important part in the health of your spine, back and neck. These four major components are key to having a healthy back, and if you follow them you will notice a considerable difference in your overall back health.

You must have each one of these four things to have a healthy back and spine, they are:

1.) Flexibility
2.) Back Strength
3.) Daily Stretching
4.) Posture

Let’s go into each of these four main parts to a healthy back in more detail.

1.) Flexibility

The first thing on our list is flexibility and how flexible your back is. If you are finding that you are throwing your back out a lot, and are experiencing painful back problems, you must think about getting the spine into proper alignment first. When you do have any type of alignment you also will increase the flexibility of your back right along with the alignment, so keep that in mind. Chiropractic is a continuously growing practice of non-invasive procedures used to alleviate pain and headaches. It is a healthcare approach focusing on the relationship between the body’s structure, specifically the spine, and the body’s functions. Practitioners may use a variety of approaches, but primarily they perform adjustments to the spine with the goal of correcting alignment problems and encouraging the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Misalignments in the spine can interfere with the flow of energy needed to support health.

The term chiropractic itself comes from the Greek words cheir (hand) and praxis (action) to describe treatment done by hand or hands-on treatment.
