Erica's Mission
June 2001

Last summer Erica lived in the bone marrow unit, pediatric intensive care unit and waiting room to be near Patrick. In the midst these tiny sterile spaces she discovered comfort through the hospitality ministry of His Grace and a few uninterrupted hours of sleep in the waiting room recliners. After returning to Austin, Erica decided she wanted to support families who have children in the intensive care unit at Children's Hospital of Austin at Brackenridge. In lieu of gifts Erica requested for her October birthday donations to help initiate We Remember, her new mission. Erica and her volunteers distribute personal items, food, and parking tokens. They served Thanksgiving dinner to about four dozen family members from all the ICUs. One of her goals is to provide recliners with the hope families can receive needed rest while remaining close to their children.
