To all of you who embraced, prayed and gave to Patrick as though he were your son, grandson, brother, cousin or nephew... we thank you with every ounce of gratefulness within us. We have been humbled by your donations, your personal notes of encouragement and sympathy, and your willingness to grieve with us.

To all of the researchers, thank you for not giving in to what felt like defeat. You have been an incredible inspiration, and we thank you for your insistence upon halting the ravages of this disease upon all children.

To Doctors Bill and Mary Lynn (Mary administers her own kind of medicine!), how can we ever thank you for laying down so much of your lift for Patrick, and what feels like for all of us? For all of you who so willingly have walked with us, please be encouraged as we are by the words of Jesus, "This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it."
